But not for long. I've had a horrendous weekend, worked Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights, was supposed to go out after that Friday night but my lift didn't show, went to see Van Helsing after work Saturday, still feel guilty about turning one of my best friends down eight months ago when he wanted us to start dating, have discovered one of my other good friends has hooked up with a guy I know someone else really likes and have two assesments on Tuesday. How's that for a sentence?

Abortion?:	Shrug It's their body, their choice
Death Penalty?:	Strongly against.
Prostitution?:	Well, it ain't going to go away, so legalise it and have them pay taxes like the rest of us.
Alcohol?:	I didn't realise this was an issue.
Marijuana?:	Pro, it's better than heaps of other drugs, and it can be used for medicinal purposes as well. Just regulate it, and it wouldn't be a problem.
Other drugs?:	Against; there is no way to regulate them, but maybe regulation would stop ODs...
Gay marriage?:	For. Strongly for, it's their choice and noone should beable to tell them it's wrong.
Illegal immigrants?:	If they are refugees, let them in. I also think they should be processed by the UN rather than individual governments.
Smoking?:	Agaisnt, but it's their choice.
Drunk driving?:	Strongly against, it doesn't only hurt them but everyone else in the road.
Cloning?:	Steamcells and organ tissue, yes. It's badly needed. Animals and people, no way.
Racism?:	Isn't everybody against racism?
Premarital sex?:	Given that marriage is no longer sacred for many people, I don't think this is a big issue any more. I think it's the person's own choice.
Religion?:	I'm more a agaisnt organised religions, rather than religion itself. I think the establishments shouldn't have the amount of power they do, religion is a personal choice.
The war in Iraq?:	Against. Strongly against. It shouldn't have been unilateral, there shouldn't have been lies, there should have been a plan for after the take over.
Bush?:	When are the elections? Get him out!
Downloading music?:	How much does the record industry get anyway? Geeze
The legal drinking age?:	18 seems to work here.
Porn?:	Couldn't care less
Suicide?:	It's a personal choice. I'm pro-euthenasia if that helps.

Today, to my horror, I heard on the news that our PM, John Howard, wanted to overhaul the Marriages Act to outlaw gay marriage. He says that it is what the 'majority' believe in.

Ban on same-sex marriages doesn't target gays: PM

Prime Minister John Howard today denied he was targeting gay people when he signalled a ban on same sex marriages, saying he was just stating what most people thought.

Mr Howard says he wants to overhaul the Marriage Act to say that marriage could only be between a man and woman, and to stop courts recognising foreign gay unions, to defend traditional families.

"The proposal would be to simply insert a definition in the Marriage Act which gives formal expression to what most people regard to be the case - and that is marriage, as we understand it in Australia, is between a man and woman," Mr Howard said.

"This is not directed at gay people. It's directed at reaffirming a bedrock understanding of our society."

Mr Howard said the existing law did not contain the formal definition that marriage was between a man and a woman.

"I just believe it. There are certain institutions that we understand to have a certain meaning and why not say so?" he said.

Labor is not likely to oppose Mr Howard's amendments.

Opposition attorney-general spokeswoman Nicola Roxon has said Labor would consider closing off Australian recognition over overseas gay marriages.

Greens Senator Bob Brown said Mr Howard should relax and accept gay marriages as part of the future's social fabric.

"Like women getting the vote and Britain giving up its empire, gay marriage is inevitable. It's logical. It's part of the future," he said.
Senator Brown said Labor appeared ready to turn its back on its history as socially just, progressive and reformist.

Equal Rights Network spokesman Rodney Croome said Mr Howard was proposing to cement in place a second-class status for homosexual relationships.

"Not so long ago, marriage defined women as property and excluded inter-racial unions, but it changed, and it should be allowed to change again to incorporate and celebrate same sex unions," Mr Croome said.

"What the Howard government is proposing will set in concrete the second-class status of same sex relationships for years to come, with much less hope that this status can change to match rapid and inevitable changes in community attitudes."
Mr Croome also expressed disappointment at Labor's stance.

Australian Democrats justice spokesman Senator Brian Greig vowed the legislation would be vigorously opposed by the Democrats.

"Most gay and lesbian people in long-term relationships demonstrate the same love, respect, commitment and dedication that most heterosexual couples do," Senator Greig said.

"Denying same-sex couples the right to any formal legal recognition of their unions just imposes social, legal and financial discrimination on them and any children they may be raising."

But the Australian Christian Lobby welcomed the proposal and said the government was standing up for family values.

How dare John Howard talk about the 'majority'. We didn't even have a parliamentary debate before going into Iraq, and the 'majority' (over 75% of us) where against it. It is plain to see that he really values the majority.

And why does the ALP support it? Maybe because it would give them a difference of opinion with Liberal that *gasp* could win the election.

And we couldn't have that now, could we?

Another four years of John Howard, and I swear I'm moving to New Zealand. Or maybe France. You see Mr Howard, we are not the 51st state of America. I don't care if a free trade deal will open up markets- an 18 year phase in period for beef is slightly excessive don't you think? Not to mention our poor sugar farmers, who have been left out entirely.

What else have you done during the last three terms Mr Howard? Deregulated milk. That went down well, didn't it? What about spending more money on private schools than public schools, when education is supposed to be state funded??

And let's talk about your higher education reforms. Not to mention Medicare. And the full sale of Telstra.

Dare I mention the Medical Insurance crisis, which you have cleverly pushed under the carpet until after the election?

Don't you talk about the majority, Mr Howard. The only reason you're still where you are is that Labour have had Kim Beezley for far to long, and Labour are terrified of making a stand.

I don't kid myself that I know everything that is happening on the PPC Board atm. Hell, I don't kid myself that I know a fraction of what is happening. But I think it's been happening for a long time (since the RW affair) and that it is going down hill. I don't think that it's the end of the board. What I think will happen is alot of the older members will up and leave. Why? Sue hunting isn't fun anymore; many of the members have become very bitter about them.
But with the exodus of the older members, the board is experiencing an influx of newer agents. And I think that the board will change and grow.

And that is all I will say on the issue as I don't know the full story.

In other news, school goes back on Wednesday. How yucky. And I'm working the night before my major maths assessment on Friday. With the manager. *Gets a butter knife and hacks pointlessly at wrists* I HATE working with him. I become a shelf-cleaning entity.

I'd rather study for maths...

Well, well, well, what have we here? My Lj which I haven't touched recently due to exams and holidays, methinks.

Given that I have had those exams and holidays, can someone please tell me exactly what is happening on the PPC Board right now? There's suddenly friction, and some of the regulars like Vemi and Hawkelf leaving. Why? What's happening? What did I miss?

Anyway, I was very happy with my exam results, save maths which I'm dreading getting back. I came equal 4th in English, which will hopefully make up for the disaster I had for our first assessment. I came 3rd in Physics (I'm a bit disappointed in that tho), 4th in chemistry, and got 86% in extension history.
I also managed to find the jobs I was searching for; for those who don't know I'm interested in becoming an intelligence analyst, and they require a 4 year degree in anything. That means I can live at home (or stay in my hometown) and do a double science/arts degree at UNE. And if it's too much work I can drop the arts and just do straight science majoring in physics. It also means I can get early entry and not die doing my HSC *G*

As for the holiday, Brunswick did not live up to expectations; the best part of the town was all caravan parks! After a week we moved to Ballina and spent the rest of the time there. My parents also informed me that they hadn't expected me to go. Well thanks for telling me. We didn't have a phone connection for the whole time, and I had really needed to cross reference some things for my extension history major work.

Oh well, you can't have everything, and given that today was ANZAC Day, I got a great idea for my final creative writing piece for extension english *bounces*. Now all I've got to do is write it.

I go away for a day or so, and when I come back the PPC board's a flaming mess!

To start with I haven't been that involved with what's been happening, preferring to stay out of it, but honestly!

I don't know if red wolf/mary sue/schools out forever is a troll or not, I'm leaning towards not at the moment. However I believe many people on the board are too close to see this, don't want to see this, or are too busy getting annoyed to see this. I thought the aim of the PPC was to help 'sue authors improve. If so, why can't we respond to one poster with the dignity that such an aim deserves? I think we're starting to descend to the level Suvians accuse us of, that of mindless flamers.

Harsh assumption? Maybe. I might be more willing to forgive because I haven't been there for all of this, I can defiantly remember mary sue annoying the hell out of me when she was there.

For me the PPC board is one of my favourite places on the 'net. And it's upsetting to see people I like and admire as both authors and reviewers jumping on every post made by one author as if they are trying to destroy her. I'm not saying that we should trust her, and I'm defiantly not saying that she's not a troll, but I just think that people need to calm down a bit and let things develop in their own time. She is a person, and she does have feelings. The age-old adages, If you don't have anything nice to say don't say, don't say anything and Ignore it and it will go away can be employed if boarders don't like what's happening.

That said, if RW continues to respond to every single thread, doesn't improve her spelling/grammar etc and/or continues to post without a point I'll be the first person emailing P@L to ban her. But I hope that it doesn't come to that.

*Steps off soap-box* I'm not trying to pin the blame on any member of the PPC for the current mess, I'm just stating my opinion. And if I'm wrong I'll be the first person in line to kill her, slowly and painfully...

The PPC Lj community does exist! I had a moment where I was sure it was gone, because all I could get were error messeges, but (naturally) I was looking in the wrong place...

Well, today was Steve Waugh's final test match. And we drew. And he almost got a century in his final ever innings. But it wasn't to be. But we didn't totally collapse, so it could have been worse.
Except our bowling. Where's Shane Wane when you need him? It was a spinner's pitch - I mean the Indian got 12 wickets in the match - and Macgill could only manage one. One wicket... I am in shock... But the selectors aren't going to drop Macgill for White, no matter how much I want them to, but I do have a feeling that Damien Martyn may be sent back to WA to try and find some sembelance of form. Of course they might give him a chance in the one dayers, but I don't know if he'll be in the test team much longer. Which means they have to bring in two batters, Clarke and someone else...

And finally got a lj, mainly so I can post at the DCPS and have sopmewhere to rant about work (I'm on holidayssssssssss...) so... yeah :D

I saw RotK for the third time yesterday *cries* it's wonderful... Although I do have my gripes, Denethor eating for one, not to mention his whole character (I won't say anymore until I work out haow to actually use this site...)

It's funny though, at work (Video Ezy) we have eight copies of FotR on VHS and ten on DVD, as well as 15 odd of TTT on both (recent release) that were never borrowed... until last month with the kiwi premiar, and now it's impossible to get a copy *shrug* I couldn't live without my copies...
Tho' TTT just got voted the #1 movie for 2003, with 4 outta the top 5, sequals (matrix, HP etc).

I also got told at work that I am uneducated, and given a list of movies I have to watch to bring me up to normal... Poor guy, when I told him that the Simpsons and South Park were'nt my fav. things in the world he almost cried. I'm horrible. :D
